Event Description: While Brahms waited until middle age to write his first symphony, his first symphony is so admired and respected that some have called it "Beethoven's Tenth." The Romanze was written during Strauss's Brahms adoration period. Korngold had vowed to write nothing but film music until Hitler was defeated. His triumphant violin concerto premiered after the end of WWII and secured his place among the musical giants.
